By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private William E. Rosell (ASN: 2061784), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Rosell distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 131st Infantry Regiment, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action on the Meuse, France, 26 September 1918, in charging with two other soldiers, a battery of two 77 field pieces. [This award was rescinded under GHQ, American Expeditionary Forces, Citation Orders No. 8 (March 1, 1920) as the recipient has been awarded a Distinguished Service Cross for deed including this act.]
