The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Charles Henry Robinton (ASN: 1203329), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Ronssoy, France, 29 September 1918. During operations against the Hindenburg line, Private Robinton went forth, in the face of unusually heavy machine-gun fire, to aid a wounded comrade. He administered first aid, and, while shielding the man from the enemy fire, he received a severe wound in the back. Despite this wound, he struggled back to safety, bringing his comrade with him.
