The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private William Earnest Robbins (ASN: 1314788), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. During an attack by his regiment, Private Robbins was wounded in the leg. Having dressed his own wound, he continued to advance with his Lewis gun and ammunition until he was killed by shellfire.
