While serving with Company B, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Peronace displayed great coolness near Gland on 21 July 1918, in assisting his platoon leader and one other comrade in capturing an enemy machine gun and eight prisoners.
