Navy Federal Credit Union

A graduate of Harvard University and the Episcopal Theological School, William Patrick was ordained an Episcopalian minister and, went to France with the Y.M.C.A. in 1917. He was subsequently commission in the Army Chaplain Corps, serving in France where he earned a Distinguished Service Cross and two Silver Stars. After retiring as an Army major shortly after the war ended, he served as National Chaplain for the American Legion from 1925 to 1926, and later as Chaplain of the Army and Navy Legion of Valor. In May 1941 he returned to the Army Chaplaincy as a Lieutenant Colonel, and served during World War II.

During this period Chaplain Patrick constantly exposed himself to the enemy fire, while giving first aid to the wounded and assisting in their evacuation.
