No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Giuseppe Parissi (ASN: 2337996), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company A, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during a very heavy shell and gas bombardment on the night of 14 – 15 July 1918, Private First Class Parissi displayed great courage and commendable persistence in repeatedly volunteering to carry messages through the woods made almost impassable by the fallen trees.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Giuseppe Parissi (ASN: 2337996), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Crezancy, France, July 14 – 15, 1918. Throughout the night of July 14 – 15, during the height of the offensive German bombardment, Private Parissi carried messages through woods made almost impassable by fallen trees.
