The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Joseph C. Parent (ASN: 134757), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Battery C, 102d Field Artillery, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Seicheprey, France, on 20 April 1918. Although severely wounded in the head and left leg, Private Parent continued, under heavy shell fire, to repair the telephone lines and succeeded in re-establishing communication.
