The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Morton Osborn (ASN: 558182), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 47th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, southeast of Bazoches, France, August 7 – 9, 1918. Wounded in the head and shoulder, Sergeant Osborn rejoined his platoon as soon as his wounds had been dressed and remained with it until the command was relieved, displaying rare qualities of leadership and judgment under heavy machine-gun and rifle fire.
