    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Frank P. O’Neil, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois-de-St. Remy, France, 12 September 1918. When the advance of his battalion was held up for nearly two hours, Lieutenant O’Neil, with. four soldiers, made an attack on the enemy, and although subjected to direct fire, succeeded in silencing two of their machine-guns, and enabling his battalion to proceed further.
