No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Trofem Narewouchek (ASN: 2338824), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company F, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Narewouchek unhesitatingly left his place of comparative safety and went out into an open field exposed to machine gun fire near Mont St. Pere, on 22 July 1918, and assisted in bringing in three wounded men. [A Distinguished Service Cross was awarded for this action.]

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Trofem Narewouchek (ASN: 2338824), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Mont St. Pere, France, 22 July 1918. Leaving his place of safety, Sergeant Narewouchek made his way across an open field, exposed to machine-gun fire, and assisted in the rescue of three wounded comrades.
