The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Wilfred Louis Murray (ASN: 125709), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 6th Field Artillery, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Fleville, France, 6 October 1918. Corporal Murray voluntarily went forward and made his way to the enemy front fines to locate hostile artillery firing at short range on our batteries. While on this mission he rescued a wounded comrade and carried him to safety.
