The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Thomas Milton Moss (ASN: 1859049), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company I, 324th Infantry Regiment, 81st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in Bois-de-Manheulles, France, 9 November 1918. With utter disregard for personal safety, Private Moss went forward under intense machine-gun fire to rescue an officer who had been mortally wounded.
