The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Corps of Engineers) Howard Clinton Molsberry, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 2d Engineers, 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in the vicinity of le Thiolet, on the night of June 6 – 7, 1918. First Lieutenant Molsberry courageously took command of and efficiently directed the advance of an infantry unit, when all its officers had been killed or wounded.
