War Department, General Orders No. 15 (1919)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Major (Medical Corps) Donald Miner, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 113th Infantry Regiment (Attached), 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Ormont Farm, France, 10 October 1918. Major Miner voluntarily proceeded under heavy shell fire to an advanced aid station. For four hours he worked unceasingly aiding the wounded and evacuating them. Finding that he could work more effectively without his gas mask, he discarded it, so that it would not hinder him in attending wounded men.
