The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Sergeant Jack L. Milloy (ASN: 1391526), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Machine-Gun Company, 132d Infantry Regiment, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Brieulles, France, 10 October 1918. On hearing the call for aid by several men who had been wounded, Sergeant Milloy, without regard for his own life, rushed out under heavy machine-gun and shell fire, administered first aid to these men, and, while in the act of placing them on stretchers, was mortally wounded.
