The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Hobart Miller (ASN: 1315912), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. When his section of the line was held up by extremely heavy machine-gun fire Private Miller voluntarily went forward, and, unaided, routed out the crews of the two nests, killing three of the enemy and returning with three prisoners.
