The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Eugene McIntyre (ASN: 1396538), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 130th Ambulance Company, 108th Sanitary Train, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Hill 281, France, 3 October 1918. After being severely wounded by the explosion of an enemy shell in the dressing station, Corporal McIntyre remained on duty, assisting in caring for the wounded until he fainted from loss of blood.
