    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class John C. Marsh (ASN: 1289360), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Molleville Farm, France, 15 October 1918. After losing his ammunition carrier Private Marsh advanced unaided, and effectively operated his automatic rifle until wounded in the hand. He continued to fire until his ammunition was exhausted, and refused to go to the rear until ordered to do so.
