The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Sotereos N. Makos (ASN: 53667), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in the attack near Soissons, France. 19 July 1918. Private Makos was wounded three times, but continued with the advance and kept up the operation of his automatic rifle despite his injuries, until the objective had been attained.
