The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Henry B. MacPherson (ASN: 1681718), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at St. Juvin, France, 16 October 1918. Corporal MacPherson volunteered repeatedly during the attack on St. Juvin to carry messages through a severe enemy barrage. Throughout the action this soldier showed entire disregard for personal danger and a devotion to duty far beyond the scope of his position, accomplishing several important missions with success.
