The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Donald MacIsaac (ASN: 161412), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 11th Railway Engineers, American Expeditionary Forces, at Gouzeaucourt, France, 30 November 1917. When the unarmed working party of which he was a member was unexpectedly attacked at Gouzeaucourt, France, Sergeant MacIsaac displayed extraordinary heroism by declining to take advantage of shelter, in going back into the barrage to assist American soldiers of another unit, and returning into the barrage a second time to search for wounded British soldiers.
