The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Arthur Trumbull Lee, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 364th Infantry Regiment, 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Tronsol Farm, France, 28 September and at Leauwken, Belgium, 31 October 1918. On the afternoon of September 28 Lieutenant Lee advanced with his platoon to Tronsol Farm under heavy artillery and machine-gun fire and captured seven machine guns and much ammunition. Forced to retire he returned with his capture and platoon in good order. On 31 October while attempting to locate machine-gun nests which were holding up his advance, he was so severely wounded that, in spite of his desire to continue, he was unable to do so.
