The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal James A. Larson (ASN: 1783289), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Malancourt, France, 26 September 1918. Corporal Larson, with another soldier from his platoon, outflanked a machine-gun in advance of our line, killed three of the crew and captured two others, together with the machine-gun.
