The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Henry Kopp (ASN: 57929), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Mihiel, France, 12 September 1918. Private Kopp displayed excellent courage in capturing a machine gun, which he turned upon an adjoining trench, forcing 20 of the enemy to surrender.
