The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Mat Anthony Kohn (ASN: 2705642), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 145th Infantry Regiment, 37th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Hearne, Belgium, 4 November 1918. Corporal Kohn went through heavy shell and machine-gun fire for a distance of 100 yards and carried a wounded comrade to safety.
