The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Thomas P. Kelly (ASN: 65075), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 102d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Hilaire, France, 22 September 1918. Assisted by another soldier, Corporal Kelly rushed a machine-gun nest which had been firing on their patrol. They succeeded in killing the crew.
