The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Henry Grady Kelley (ASN: 1315982), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 20 September 1918. Voluntarily advancing alone against a machine-gun nest, which was causing heavy casualties in his platoon, Private Kelley bombed the enemy position, killing five of the crew and capturing the remaining three.
