The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Charles F. Jordan (ASN: 1316133), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. Private Jordan repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to save his comrades, going forward in advance of our lines to attack machinegun nests. After reducing one enemy nest with rifle grenades, he proceeded to attack another, and, while so doing, was killed by enemy snipers.
