The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Claude V. Jones (ASN: 2222195), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company M, 358th Infantry Regiment, 90th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Fey-en-Haye, France, 12 September 1918. With the assistance of one other soldier, Corporal Jones attacked a machinegun nest from the flank, and captured the gun, together with 11 prisoners.
