The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Otto Carsten Jensen (ASN: 3138240), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company E, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Juvin, France, 1 November 1918. When his company had suffered heavy casualties and had been withdrawn, Private Jensen went out with another soldier in advance of our lines, under machine-gun fire, to rescue the wounded. In attempting this hazardous mission, he was seriously wounded.
