The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Lee H. Ingram (ASN: 1204519), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, east of Ronssoy, France, 29 September 1918. During the operations against the Hindenburg line Sergeant Ingram left shelter and went forward under heavy shell and machine-gun fire and rescued five wounded soldiers. In performing this gallant act, Sergeant Ingram and another soldier attacked an enemy dugout, killing two of the enemy, and taking one prisoner.
