The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Wagoner Clifford Richard Haskins (ASN: 108817), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 101st Machine-Gun Battalion, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Trugny, France, 22 July 1918. Wagoner Haskins was seriously wounded in the leg while placing injured soldiers in his ambulance. Nevertheless, he insisted on driving the machine to the dressing station and continued the work of evacuating the wounded until exhausted from loss of blood.
