The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Morgan K. Harris, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Apremont, France, 29 September 1918. Surrounded by a number of the enemy during a hostile counterattack and called upon to surrender, Lieutenant Harris escaped by knocking down one of his adversaries and shooting another.
