The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Harrison A. Hardy (ASN: 549424), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Mezy, France, 15 July 1918. Although painfully wounded during the battle of the Marne, Private Hardy continued on duty with his platoon and was active in bringing wounded men to the safety of our own lines.

While serving with Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 15 July 1918, near Mezy, France, during the Battle of the Marne, though himself painfully wounded, Private Hardy continued on duty with his platoon and was active in bringing back wounded to the safety of our own lines.
