The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Robert Kalman Haas, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Revillon, France, 10 September 1918. During the attack on Revillon, Lieutenant Haas voluntarily left his shelter and went across an open slope in full observation of the enemy and under heavy machine-gun fire to the aid of a wounded soldier, bringing him back to our lines for first-aid treatment.
