The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Don Greene (ASN: 2213364), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 353d Infantry Regiment, 89th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near the Bois-de-Barricourt, France, 2 November 1918. Private Greene displayed conspicuous bravery in twice carrying important messages across an area under heavy shell and machine-gun fire from the front and flanks.
