The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Mechanic Ludwig Genrich (ASN: 2384249), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company I, 60th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Clery-le-Petit, France, 6 November 1918. His company having been held up by enemy machine-gun fire, Mechanic Genrich, with his platoon leader and another soldier, attacked a machine-gun nest, killing two of the crew and capturing eight prisoners, thereby permitting the company to advance and establish a bridgehead.
