The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Kenneth Eliot Fuller, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Vaux Castille, France, 18 July 1918. When his company was temporarily halted by heavy machine-gun fire, Second Lieutenant Fuller personally led a group of ten men in an attack on the machine-gun position. He was killed while leading this attack, but due to his heroic example the enemy position was captured and his company was able to continue its advance.
