    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant James Edward Fore (ASN: 1310840), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company E, 118th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at St. Martin-Riviere, France, 17 October 1918. While engaged with four other soldiers in mopping up a village, Sergeant Fore led his men in a flank attack on a machine-gun neat and captured the crew, numbering 18. Pushing forward, he organized a squad of stragglers and captured an entire company of Germans, including two officers.
