The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) John Vincent Flood, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Badonvilliers, France, 24 June 1918. Lieutenant Flood, after being severely wounded, continued to direct his platoon with great courage and determination.
