The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Frank F. Fleischman (ASN: 1286125), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Balschwiller, Alsace, 31 August 1918. After a raid against enemy trenches, Private Fleischman volunteered to accompany his platoon leader into November of the platoon who had been wounded. While engaged in this courageous duty he was mortally wounded.
