The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Harold Fisher (ASN: 69834), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 103d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Riaville, France, 25 September 1918. While a member of the party making a raid on Riaville, after the detachment had been ordered to retire upon completion of its mission, corporal fisher voluntarily went forward at great personal risk of his life through extremely heavy hostile machine-gun fire and succeeded in carrying back to his own lines a helpless wounded comrade. His act was one of great devotion to duty and was an inspiration to his comrades.

Corporal Fisher distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 103d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Riaville, France, 26 September 1918, in voluntarily going out under terrific machine gun fire and bringing in a wounded comrade.
