While serving with Company L, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Duey was previously commended for his brave action on 15 July 1918, during the attack made by his Company on 23 July 1918 he carried messages under the heaviest shell fire, displaying unquestionable courage.     The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Arma Duey (ASN: 548062), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Jaulgonne, France, 23 July 1918. During the attack made by his company, Private Duey constantly carried messages under heaviest shell fire, insuring and maintaining liaison with all neighboring units.
