By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Arma Duey (ASN: 548062), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company L, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Duey was previously commended for his brave action on 15 July 1918, during the attack made by his Company on 23 July 1918 he carried messages under the heaviest shell fire, displaying unquestionable courage. His brave actions made it possible to insure and keep liaison within the company and with neighboring units near Jaulgonne. [A Distinguished Service Cross was awarded for this action.]
