The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Albert Benedick Dravland (ASN: 2143891), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 328th Infantry Regiment, 82d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Chatel-Chehery, France, 7 October 1918. Acting as stretcher bearer, Private First Class Dravland displayed exceptional courage in transporting wounded from the battlefield under machine-gun and artillery fire. He worked continuously for more than 48 hours without a rest, supervising a detachment of stretcher bearers searching the woods for wounded.
