The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Roy T. Dixon (ASN: 1386560), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 131st Infantry Regiment, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Consenvoye, France, 14 October 1918. After five runners had been killed or wounded in attempting to reach the battalions on the flanks of his own, Corporal Dixon volunteered to lead a patrol to establish liaison with them. In so doing, he encountered an enemy machine gun, which he boldly attacked and silenced, successfully accomplishing his mission.
