    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Mike Delambo (ASN: 543095), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company M, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in company with two of his comrades on 20 October 1918, at Claire Chenes, while advancing lines were held up by machine gun fire from woods in front, Private Delambo voluntarily and without orders, went around the machine gun and into the woods from the flank, capturing the machine gun and one officer, two sergeants and six privates, thus enabling the lines to advance. [A Distinguished Service Cross was awarded for this action.]

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Mike Delambo (ASN: 543095), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company M, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in the Claires-Chenes Woods, France, 20 October 1918. When his company was held up by machine-gun fire Private Delambo, with two comrades, advanced and made a flank attack on an enemy machine-gun position, capturing the gun and forcing 1 officer, 2 sergeants, and 6 privates to surrender. By his deed the company was enabled to continue the advance.
