    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Sergeant. Wiltshire C. Davis (ASN: 1288664), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Haumont, France, 11 October 1918. After the loss of all his officers and his company was becoming disorganized, Sergeant Davis took command and reassembled the company, bringing it to the objective at the most opportune moment. He commanded for a period of eleven days thereafter and successfully continued the operations by his leadership and exceptional courage under fire.
