The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain (Infantry) John Blessing Crone, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 60th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Murvaux, France, 6 November 1918. During the operations of his company which resulted in the capture of Murvaux, Captain Crone, with the aid of two soldiers, rushed a machine-gun nest, capturing the gun and gunner. Later in the day he repulsed a heavy counterattack on the hill Cote St. Germaine.
