The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Robbins L. Conn, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Revillon, France, 10 September 1918. Lieutenant Conn volunteered, and, with two soldiers, went on a patrol for the purpose of capturing prisoners. They crawled forward to within a few yards of the enemy lines, overpowered two sentries and succeeded in delivering them to the battalion commander, despite the fact that the enemy put down a heavy barrage of rifle fire and fire grenades.
