The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Thomas Colonna (ASN: 1751384), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 312th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Grand Pre, France, 17 October 1918. Upon being wounded by a shell, Private Colonna refused to go to the rear, but remained on the firing line against the advice of his commanding officer, dressing the wounds of two comrades.
